Jacques Besson Jacques Besson (50) obtained his PhD in 1990 at Ecole des Mines de Paris with a thesis dealing with ceramic powder processing. After a post-doc at UC Santa Barbara, he entered CNRS in 1992 and started working on the characterization, modelling and simulation of fracture of metals (brittle and ductile fracture, transition, creep). He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications. He also directed 40 PhD theses. He is now head of the "Centre des Matériaux - Mines ParisTech".
